Senior Pastor

Preaching and Methodism are in Gene’s family, going back to his great-grandfather. His love of storytelling is foundational to his commitment to community formation, and he believes that loving God, self, and neighbor springs from loving relationships. As a husband and father of two children, Gene preaches in a relatable and practical style. He likes airplanes, old cars, and long books.

Director, Congregational Development

Deb is happy that her two sons, daughter-in-law, granddog, and parents live nearby. A fitness enthusiast just now learning to play the Ukulele, she uses her years of corporate experience in leadership and team development to inspire and enable church leaders. Deb is a powerful preacher passionate about inclusion, service, and community.

Office Manager

Deb and her husband, John have one son, Travis. Deb brings her experience in corporate marketing, strong organizational skills and cheery disposition to SUM everyday. She loves to read and teaches dance part-time at a nearby studio.

Music Director

Bridget is a musician, wife, mother, teacher, and hiking enthusiast. She leads SUM’s musical ensembles and strives to make musical opportunities in the church for all who want them, no matter age, ability, or experience.

CAYA Music Leader

Following a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the Hartt School of Music, Len’s first job was teaching and conducting choral music. He went on to teach instrumental music in elementary and high school as well as playing instrumental music at churches. When he isn’t making music at SUM, Len works as a computer programmer.

Organist

Whether inspiring us with a postlude or leading hymns in a steady tempo, Kari brings years of music experience to her role as church organist. She tends a large perennial garden and enjoys her two Siamese cats.

Youth Director

Erin is a mom of two kids and many pets. As a teacher and youth group leader, she loves working with teenagers, and in her free time can be found with a book in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other.

Children’s Ministries Coordinator

Julie is a wife and mother of three. As a past educator, she loves working with children and people of all ages. She is passionate about creativity, community, and spiritual growth.
