Advent study

SATURDAY, 9:30-10:30AM in the Barn - December 1, 8, 15, 22

Follow in the footsteps of Elizabeth, Mary and Anna as we journey through Advent with The Women of Christmas. Each story is compelling and author Liz Curtis Higgs carefully unwraps each tale. This book provides a fresh way to approach the story of Christmas, through a trio of women.  Led by Pastor Gene Ott.

The Barn is the building behind the sanctuary. It has no cows or sheep. We aren’t even really sure why we call it a Barn.

First Light and the kingdom of god - DVD Study

SUNDAY - 10:30-11:30AM in the Annex

This material was filmed on location in Galilee and Jerusalem. The two individuals responsible for the DVD are John Dominic Crossan and Marcus Borg. Crossan is a former Roman Catholic monk and priest, and both individuals have written many books and are former college professors. It should provoke valuable discussion and stretch us a bit, hearing from these Jesus historians. There will be about 15 minutes of reading to prepare for each class- so a much lighter requirement than usual!  If you have any questions, the study is led by Amy Kulig.

The Annex is the little house at the end of the covered walkway - by the parking lot.

MONDAY, 4:30 - 6:00 p.m. in the Annex

We are studying the book of Isaiah from the Wesley Bible Studies series. Commentary from contemporary teachers, with highlighted quotes from the writings and life experiences of John Wesley, along with the poetry and hymns of his brother Charles are used in the lessons. Each of the twelve sessions conclude with discussion questions and a prayer.  This study is co-led by Jan Bennett and Susan Samuel.

TUESDAY, 10:30 – 12:00 p.m. in the Annex
***Stay tuned for the start of this study in late January or early February***

Your first job. Your first date. A tough period in your life. A day when time stood still. Memories to Memoirs will help you put snippets of your life (or a longer stretch) into words for posterity.  We’ll take turns sharing our pieces (for those who want to share). Rev Dennis Winkleblack will lead the class, offering writing tips and an abundance of encouragement. All writing skill levels welcomed, especially those who’re certain they can’t write. Dennis says, “Our lives are God’s handiwork; we honor God by giving attention to our experiences.”

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY - THURSDAY, 9:15 – 11:00 a.m. in the Annex

This Women’s Bible Study is led by Donna Motyl and Rolene Johnson.  They are continuing with a study of Matthew. There is no homework. They read a chapter and then discuss it using our study Bibles and internet resources.
